The Dynamo Archive
|
The history of Dynamo is encapsulated in the Milestones
page which recalls significant events (minor as well as
major) which have helped shape our company.
The present page and its many sub-pages will no doubt be
mainly of interest to those who have been associated with
Dynamo in some way over the years, whether as performers or
their parents, helpers and committee members, or just as regular
'Friends'.
All our programmes are already posted (*),
so members and past members can remind themselves of what
they did and who else was there. Heaps of photographs exist,
waiting to be sorted and posted in due course.
(*) Two programmes are incomplete
-"Mad Forest" (1992) and "Dance & Drama
+ Rabbit" (1993). If anyone has a copy please get in
touch!

2001/2002
Portsmouth Music Festival
The Portsmouth Music Festival has been an annual event
since 1918. It is a huge event, running for several weeks
with hundreds of musicians in numerous classes, competing
in many venues in Portsmouth and surrounding areas. DYT
competed for the first time in 2001 with a medley of the
songs from Fiddler On The Roof, the show we
performed in January of that year. John Gleadall, the Musical
Director of Fiddler, further improved the cast's singing
ability, resulting in DYT gaining a Distinction and winning
the cup for their class!
John led Dynamo to win again in 2002 with a reprise of
songs from One Pride One People. This time
we won WITH HONOURS and were awarded the prestigious Rotary
Club cup. There are very few Honours awarded (when we competed
on 16th March 2002, only one other entry was awarded honours
that day) and it was the first time a performance lead by
John Gleadall had won with Honours.

(from Portsmouth News)
TYRE TRACK TED was a production by Dynamo
Seniors in June 1992. It had a serious road safety theme
leavened by a large dash of comedy. It was taken to a number
of local schools over the course of a week or so, sometimes
two or three performances a day. There was no printed programme
and almost nothing is in the written record.
Producer/Roadie: Mrs Jenny Wilcox
